THE EPILOGUE OF SUMAN AND PUTO
One Friday morning, I woke up feeling the kiss of the sun shining through my windows. After saying a prayer, I immediately got up and headed outside my bedroom. It is a usual thing for me that after the morning rituals I sit and look at something as if clouds are all around my neck.

"Oh, I'm starving!"

As my eyes rolled towards the table, I noticed Puto and Suman. Both feeling comfortable, they were sharing the spaces inside a red transparent plastic bag.

Suman smiled at Puto. Puto timidly smiled back at Suman. They didn't say a word but their smiles said it all that they were okay lying side by side. Minutes passed and they were just feeling each other's batter.

Hearing my stomach sounds, I eagerly opened and chose what I would eat for breakfast... Suman! I got it out of the bag and left Puto alone. I noticed Puto frowned.

Hungry as a wolf, I grabbed Suman. While twirling my hands to remove the sticky banana leaf covering, I perceived Puto rolled its eyes but fast enough that I didn't actually see the rolling. Maybe, just maybe, Puto got annoyed that I took away its only companion. '

I took my first bite of Suman, it tasted like Filipino. I wanted it sweeter so I got sugar dip.

My next bite would always taste better than the last time.

I took my second bite and Puto rolled its eyes again.

I took my third bite and Puto rolled its eyes again.

I took my fourth bite and Puto rolled its eyes again.

I took my last bite and Puto had not rolled its eyes. Puto turned its back on me.

As the morning sunshine brightened, I held Puto in my hands and I swore how sorry I was  for disappointing Puto. I didn't mean to take away its companion. I knew, in just minutes, they became friends even without a word spoken. Friends understand each other with just one hug or even with just one look.

Unknowingly, Puto had fallen asleep... and suddenly Puto was in a hollow, dilated place with enzymes and acids.

Yes, I also ate Puto. All that's left was the square teal plate.

Puto and Suman had been together again.

Maybe, just maybe, Suman was smiling at Puto. Puto was timidly smiling back at Suman. They hadn't said a word but their smiles said it all that they're okay lying side by side. Minutes passed and they're just feeling each other's chyme.

I knew that they were smiling because my hunger had disappeared.

I set a charm to the top of your head, to the sole of your foot, to each side of your breast, that you may not leave me or forsake me.
